Air-filled tyres and a good suspension will handle rough terrain well. You can also use it for jogging. But, you should wait until your baby is at least 6 or 9 months old.

Ickle Bubba Air

This pushchair from Ickle Bubba is a brilliant option for parents looking for a lightweight buggy with enhanced features. The travel system comes with an adjustable carrycot that can be folded flat for newborns and a multi-position rear and forward facing seat for a pushchair.

The XL Air is a really impressive buggy and it's simple to understand why it has received such high praise from its customers. It's incredibly light - both the chassis and wheels weigh just 6.5kg and it's extremely simple to put together. In fact, I was able to complete the entire setup and running in just five minutes, which is pretty impressive considering it included attaching the fabric for the carrycot!

It has a lovely, wide seat that was comfortable for Annie (who is 12 months old) and the recline lever is easy to use. The basket is spacious with plenty of space, and I like that the handle bar has an area to keep your keys and phone safe.

The only downside is the handlebar is low, which could be a problem for taller parents. However, it's coated in a gorgeous leather-like material that is soft and comfortable and cleans down easily, meaning it's still a breeze to push with children and bags on your hands!

Hauck Pushchair Runner

The Runner is made for sporty parents who can't wait to go out and explore. Its large pneumatic wheels were designed to be used on field and forest trails, and the front wheel can be swivelled and locked to give you more flexibility. It also has a padded 5-point safety harness and front bar to keep your little one safe throughout your journey, while the parking brake effectively stops the stroller from moving when you take a break. The comfortable seat is simple to recline to a comfortable lying position, and the canopy opens up with netting to ensure maximum air circulation on hot days. The handle can be adjusted by more than 30cm, to fit the needs of dad or mum.

The Runner will accompany you on any adventure whether it's a leisurely walk, a longer hike or a long distance trek. It features a completely flat lay-flat seat that has suspension air wheels that provide a smooth ride. The front wheel is lockable to provide more stability on narrow streets and congested sidewalks and the stroller folds easily to fit into car boots and storage spaces.

The Runner 2 is a bit more difficult to maneuver for some parents than its predecessor. Also, the locking system (requiring two buttons on either side of the handlebar) is less user-friendly. The handlebars are a bit higher than the ones of other competitors, and therefore may not be suitable for shorter parents. However, this stroller is sturdy and adaptable and is a good option by active families.

The Pace is a different great product from Red Kite, an affordable British brand that is known for its simple and well-designed parenting essentials. It's the most recent - and priciest - version of their bargain light stroller collection. It's also like the Ickle Bubba Aurora and Yoyo is car seat compatible so that you can use it right from birth (the carrycot folds away).

The new Pace features some stunning design features such as a rose-gold shade on the hood, chassis, and stroller trims that really make it stand out. The stroller and car seat fabrics are fashionable in tan, grey and cream. You can also choose to add handles made of leather and a bumper bar to complement.

It is suitable from birth up to a max weight of 22kg. The stroller seat can easily be converted from the carrycot to a 2-in-1 reversible mode, parent or world-facing. The stroller seat offers multiple lying positions, a comfortable padded leg rests and an extendable sun canopy with concealed zip sections, viewing through flaps and an retractable sun visor.

When folded, the Pace measures 56 inches x 43cm and 32 inches, which makes it suitable for hand luggage on Easyjet and Ryanair. Two buttons on either side are easy to use and can be clicked into place.

Bugaboo Fox 5

Created to be the ultimate all-terrain pushchair, Bugaboo's latest Fox 5 promises to do it all. Its unique chassis, with a shorter wheel-distance, makes it more maneuverable than its predecessor. I tested it with my two children - a toddler and an eight-week-old - on rocky pavements as well as woodland walks that are grassy and even cobblestones.

The large, puncture-proof wheels - either 22cm or a bit larger they can be used on a variety of terrains. They also have a handy flap that opens or closes to let more air in should you need it, which is a nice touch. It's a bit bigger than other pushchairs, however it does not feel heavy or bulky when you push it over bumpy surfaces.
